actors rehearsing The Importance of Being Earnest

The classic comedy of mistaken identities by Oscar Wilde is being produced in Somerset! Flashback Theater Co. uses talent from Somerset and the surrounding region to produce plays that explore our present relationship to the world through the lens of our past interactions as a community and through the passionate pursuit of theater that speaks to the soul.

Taking on the role of Jack Worthing is Chris Dickens, a student at Somerset Community College who has been seen in favorite SCC shows such as Radio Suspense TheatreChris Harris of the Commonwealth Journal plays Algernon Moncrieff, Jack’s insatiable friend always looking for a spot of trouble to get into.  Amber Frangos, a staple of Flashback’s acting company, joins the cast as the formidable Lady Bracknell. Amanda Balltrip plays Gwendolyn: niece to Lady Bracknell and love interest to Jack.  Lisa Wright takes on Miss Prism, the governess of Cecily. Cecily is played by Sarah Wood, a recent graduate of Lindsey Wilson College’s theater program. John Neikirk will be playing the Reverend Canon Chasuble (opposite Miss Prism) as well as Lane, an heirloom family servant to Algernon. B.G Burnette of Chef B.G’s Bistro at the Carnegie rounds out the cast with the comic character Merriman.

The play is directed by Flashback Theater’s founder, Sommer Schoch. Schoch (formerly Huckelby) grew up in Somerset and Russell Springs, acting in local community plays with the Lake Cumberland Children’s Theatre and the Star Theater.
