FbTC is committed to on the job training for those who may be inexperienced but willing to learn more about the inner workings of a theater production.

Rose Leigh Abbott left her small town Kentucky home to support the war effort and her children. Widowed with two small children she became a working single mother during World War II and became the face of Rosie the Riveter for the war bond films shown in movie theaters across the nation. Her efforts and those of her coworkers Margie, Doris, and Kay are vital in bringing the war to its victorious end.

This production will be the opening production for the Black Box at Old City Hall. It will not be technically complex but will be host to the challenges inherent in performing in a new space.

Job Description:

The Stage Manager (SM) is a production team member who coordinates all aspects of rehearsal and performance. The SM will work closely with the director to establish a working rehearsal schedule and ensure actors and crew members arrive promptly for call times and have all things necessary for a successful rehearsal/performance.

The SM will maintain an accurate record of all blocking and cues in a prompt book, operate the light board during performances and technical rehearsals, and will coordinate crew members to achieve smooth set changes and resets each night. The SM is responsible for pulling and tracking props during rehearsals and performances. After the production run is over, the SM will help to organize a strike call to deconstruct the set and load out of the performance space.

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Basic knowledge of theater practices
  • Ability to maintain a calm, collected demeanor through the chaos of putting a show together
  • Ability to anticipate and solve problems with a professional manner

  • Intimate knowledge of theater practices

  • First aid and safety training

Performances: May 3 – 13, 2018

Performances are planned for Thursday through Sunday each weekend, and include two show days in which the Junior cast will perform a matinee and the adult cast will perform the evening performance.

Rehearsals: April 

Rehearsals will occur in the evening on weekdays, usually four days a week. Technical rehearsals may occur weekdays in the morning or afternoon or weekends, per the availability of the stage manager and crew. Daily staging rehearsals will begin April 3, with a first read planned for Sunday, March 25. The stage manager is responsible for scheduling and attending all rehearsals, so the candidate needs to have a firm commitment to the show.

Compensation:

The stage manager will be an independent contractor and will be paid a flat fee in installments throughout the rehearsal and performance process.
