Flashback Theater Co. (FbTC) seeks a stage manager for an upcoming musical production of Little Shop of Horrors. FbTC is committed to on the job training for those who may be inexperienced but willing to learn more about the inner workings of a theater production.

The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” – after his coworker crush. This aggressive, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out of this world origins and intent towards global domination!

Job Description:

The Stage Manager (SM) is a production team member who coordinates all aspects of rehearsal and performance. The SM will work closely with the producer, director, and music director to establish a working rehearsal schedule and ensure actors and crew members arrive promptly for call times and have all things necessary for a successful rehearsal/performance.

The SM will maintain an accurate record of all blocking and cues in a prompt book, operate the light board during performances and technical rehearsals, and will coordinate crew members to achieve smooth set changes and resets each night. The SM is responsible for pulling and tracking props during rehearsals and performances. After the production run is over, the SM will help to organize a strike call to deconstruct the set and load out of the performance space.

  • Basic knowledge of theater practices
  • Ability to maintain a calm, collected demeanor through the chaos of putting a show together

  • First aid and safety training

Performances: March 1 – 11, 2018

Performances are planned for Thursday through Sunday each weekend, for a total of 6 performances over two weekends.

Rehearsals: December 2017 – February 28, 2018

Rehearsals will occur in the evening on weekdays, with occasional Saturday times added as needed. Daily staging rehearsals will begin January 3, with a first read planned for December 17. The stage manager is responsible for scheduling and attending all rehearsals, so there is some flexibility to work around other commitments. Mandatory technical/dress rehearsals will occur February 25 – 28, 2018.

Compensation:

The stage manager will be an independent contractor and will be paid a flat fee in installments throughout the rehearsal and performance process.
