Flashback Theater invites you to put your music, acting, and dancing abilities to the test at their upcoming Let’s Play! Second Saturday workshop, Triple Threat. Flashback Theater invites you to put your music, acting, and dancing abilities to the test at their upcoming Let’s Play! Second Saturday workshop, Triple Threat. At this workshop, we invite participants to experience the fast-paced process of putting together a musical number for a theatrical production. As is usual for Let’s Play! Second Saturday workshops, the event is free to the public and open to all ages and experience levels. The workshop will take place on Saturday, November 10th at 7:00 p.m. in the Black Box at Flashback Theater.

Musical theater is a demanding form of theater that requires many kinds of artists including singers, dancers, and actors. When someone excels in all three categories, they are what is called a Triple Threat. “All three of these elements go into the creation of a great musical. If someone is considering musical theatre as a career, it is important they work to improve on all three fronts,” says workshop leader Bailey Patterson. At the workshop, you can expect to get a taste of the high level of skill demanded by the art form.

In just 90 minutes, workshop leaders Bailey Patterson, Livia Keith, and Lexie Woodroof will teach everyone the music, story, and choreography for a selection from the popular 2015 musical-comedy Something Rotten. Participants will get a taste of what it is like to be in a musical without the pressure of performance. Approximately 25 minutes will be spent working in each discipline before spending the last 15 minutes on putting all the pieces together.

As always, the Let’s Play! program strives to promote a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Actors of all ages and experience levels are encouraged to participate. All that is needed to enjoy a Let’s Play! workshop is a collaborative spirit and a willingness to say “yes!” If you’re unsure, or you just want to watch, we encourage your attendance as an audience member. Everyone is welcome in the theater!

Join us this Second Saturday to explore your skills and celebrate the magic of musical theater! In the words of Patterson, “I hope people attending this workshop will, most importantly, have fun, and find enjoyment in performing. I believe there is something in musical theatre for every person to appreciate.  Also, if someone has yet to be introduced to musical theatre, I hope this workshop will light a spark in them, and inspire them to go forward and pursue their art, whatever form it takes!”
