What to know:
Preparation
To audition, performers should prepare a piece fit for the “Rewind” theme; you may choose any material previously seen in a Flashback Production. Scenes, songs, and monologues are all encouraged. This is your chance to revisit your favorite show – or step into a role you would have enjoyed playing – or try a different part than one you played in a show.
For your convenience, the production team has prepared a catalog spreadsheet of all past material including: songs, scenes, and monologues. This spreadsheet is available to view now by clicking this link.
We request that you indicate what material you are interested in auditioning with in advance of your audition by marking your name on the spreadsheet or by contacting company stage manager Renate Dopp ([email protected]).
Accompaniment
Live piano accompaniment will be available during vocal auditions at no extra cost for those who send in their sheet music to our Cabaret Stage Manager Mahayla Mounce ([email protected]) by February 26th. We highly encourage performers to take this opportunity to work with live music, as all music performed during the Cabaret will be live.
A speaker for track accompaniment is also available, but will not be permitted for performance.
Additionally, during performance, musical performers will have the opportunity to perform with a full live band. If you believe your piece would benefit from additional instrumentation, please contact stage management ([email protected]) by February 26th.
Coaching Sessions & Rehearsals
Prior to the performance, selected performers will be asked to attend one coaching session with Producing Artistic Director and Sommer Schoch, as well as Professional Ensemble Member Theresa Jean Kibby. Schoch will focus on coaching the acting and performance skills of each performer, whereas Kibby will use her extensive musical background to help enhance vocal performances. These coaching sessions will occur in the weeks leading up to the performance and can be scheduled flexibly based on the performers availability.
There is one mandatory dress rehearsal the morning of the Cabaret: April 13th, 2024 at 10 a.m.
Please send all additional questions about auditions to our stage manager, Mahayla Mounce ([email protected]).
